WARNING:
Lava is a porous rock with lots of tiny holes, like a sponge it absorbs moisture from the air. Water gets inside, and when it’s heated up, steam forms. This steam causes the rock to expand and pop. You can prevent this by protecting your fire pit from the rain, and by drying out any wet rocks before you lighting the burner. It is always a good idea to let the fire burn for a few minutes to clear any moisture before gathering closely around the fire. Fire Glass media has the same effect but to a lesser extent as is less porous.
